Identification plays a vital role in forensic investigations, especially in mass disasters or cases involving mutilated or dismembered bodies. Anthropometric studies have long explored the correlation between stature and various body measurements, such as hand and foot dimensions. However, limited data exist regarding the correlation between finger lengths and an individual’s height. The present study aims to establish a correlation between the lengths of the index, middle, ring, and little fingers with stature. An observational cross-sectional study was conducted at a tertiary medical teaching institute in southern Haryana. Stature was measured using a stadiometer, and finger lengths were recorded using a vernier calliper. Pearson’s correlation test was employed to assess the relationship between finger lengths and stature, while linear and multiple regression equations were derived separately for males, females, and the combined group. Paired t-tests were used to compare the estimated and actual statures, with statistical significance at p-value < 0.05. A total of 150 subjects participated, including 75 males and 75 females. The mean age was 21.23 ± 1.51 years for males and 20.82 ± 2.05 years for females. A statistically significant correlation (p < 0.05) was observed among females and in the combined group, whereas in males, only the right little finger showed a significant correlation (R = 0.228, p < 0.05). No significant differences were observed between actual and estimated statures (p > 0.05). The findings suggest that finger length can serve as a reliable indicator of stature, especially in females and mixed populations.
